Tools
Most of what keeps a setup running needs a tool of some kind, and they cost very little compared with the gear they look after.
Point keys are the ones to check first. Swiss Point, Quick Point, Switch and R2.5 Rapid each use their own tool, and a point system without its key is a system you cannot use — so it is worth keeping the right one in your case rather than a drawer at home.
Beyond those sit repointing tools for pressed-in barrels, broken shaft extractors for the moment a shaft snaps flush with the thread, flight punches for fitting protectors, and sharpeners for keeping points biting the wire rather than skidding off it.
